Another new green in my smoothie today, this time I tried Tatsoi. Also known as Spinach mustard, or Rosette Bok choy, it’s a dark green Asian plant similar looking to spinach. It is great in a smoothie! As with all leafy greens it adds lots of fibre & antioxidants and Tatsoi is also high in beta-carotene, vitamins A, C and K and minerals including iron and calcium. I added Maca Powder to my smoothie today as I have a hormone imbalance which Maca, a Peruvian root vegetable, is traditionally used for. I also like it’s earthy taste.
Makes one medium smoothie or smoothie bowl
- 1/2 medium avocado
- 1/2 large banana
- 1-2 large handfuls of leafy greens, I like Tatsoi or spinach
- 5 leaves of sorrel
- 1 tablespoon Maca Powder ( optional )
- 1 date
- 1 1/2 cups water- omit for smoothie bowl
- Blend all ingredients in your blender for 2 minutes unit well combined.
- Drink immediately.
